
Kara Kolster, DVM, DACT
Dr. Kolster is a 2004 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VMRCVM) at Virginia Tech. In 2007, she completed a residency in Theriogenology (reproduction) at VMRCVM. Dr. Kolster received the Outstanding Master’s Student Award from the College in 2007. Dr. Kolster is working toward completion of her Master’s degree in Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences, with a research emphasis on the relationship between hypothyroidism and reproduction in dogs. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists and currently a member of the ACT certifying examination committee. She is also a member of the Society for Theriogenology, VVMA, AVMA, and AAHA. Dr. Kolster lectures to local as well as national veterinary groups and breed clubs.
In her free time, she enjoys competing in conformation, agility, and other sports with her Shetland sheepdogs and Portuguese water dog.
