Covid-19 Protocol

Curbside Concierge Service

Our veterinary services are an essential component of the health care system in our community.  As such, it is essential that we remain open to provide the necessary care that you and your animal companions have become accustomed to.  In light of the COVID pandemic, we are following the ever changing guidelines and recommendations made by the Governor Northam, the CDC, WHO, AVMA, and the VVMA.  With an abundance of caution and concern for your personal health we closed our lobby to the public on March 23rd.  Our veterinary center will continue to remain open to provide care to our patients.

UPDATED:   Effective 04/06/2020, we are updating our Curbside Concierge Service to further minimize the risks associated with COVID-19

All client communications and transactions will be done over the phone or curbside in our parking lot

For All Appointments

*We ask that all clients who are ill with flu like symptoms or those who have been exposed or potentially exposed to COVID-19, to please notify us during the scheduling of your pet’s appointment or during the curbside process when you call from your car, so that we can make special accommodations to care for you companion animal.

*When you and your pet arrive for your appointment, please pull into a parking spot and remain in your vehicle.

*Please call our office at (804)-270-7274 from your car and one of our team members will help to direct you through our Covid appointment process.

*We want you to be aware that we may be utilizing partial or full personal protective equipment. So expect that at a minimum, our staff will be wearing a mask over their mouth and nose.  Please do not be alarmed.  We are not ill and we want to do our part to keep our clients and staff safe.  We thank you for your understanding.

For Dog (Not in Carriers)

*You will be directed to walk your pet into one of the available runs that are located on the left and right side of our parking lot.  After you safely leash them to the inside of the run (leash provided) and close the door, please exit the run and close the door behind you.  Please take off your companion’s collar and leash off and keep them with you, as we will be using our own.

*You are welcome to remain outside of the run with your pet until we are able to help usher them into the hospital.  We recommend remaining toward the back of the run so we can maximize social distancing.

*Our staff will enter the run and then safely escort your pet into our clinic for care, while you return to your vehicle.

*We will be in contact with you during the examination via phone.  We ask that you please keep your cell phone readily available for this communication.

*After speaking with you, and upon completion of the appointment, your companion will be ushered back safely to one of the runs, where the process will be reversed, allowing you to become reacquainted with them.

*Once you and your companion are back in your vehicle, we ask that you again call our clinic (804) 270-7274 to schedule any necessary follow up appointments.

*We ask that payment be made over the phone directly with one of our customer service representatives.

*All documents, including invoices can be emailed to you if you prefer.

For Pets in Carriers (cats and small dogs)

*After arrival and calling our front staff, you will be directed to place your pet, in their carrier, outside either set of the main front doors of the hospital.

*After which, you can return to your vehicle and we will safely escort your companion into our clinic for their scheduled appointment.

*We will be in contact with you during the examination via phone.  We ask that you please keep your cell phone readily available for this communication.

*After speaking with you and upon completion of the appointment, your companion will be ushered back safely in their carrier to an area outside of our front doors, where the process will be reversed, allowing you to become reacquainted with them.

Prescription Medication and Food Pick Up

*Please call us when you are in the parking lot and we will bring your pet’s medication/food out to the table located outside our front doors.

*We ask that payment be made over the phone directly with one of our customer service representatives.

Just as we have always done in the past, we stay committed to providing exceptional and compassionate care to you and your animal companion(s).  We appreciate your understanding with regard to our necessary new protocols.  We look forward to getting back to seeing you safely again in the near future.

Sincerely,
